The Anniversary Update was originally thought to have been set aside for two feature updates. This version was released on August 2, 2016, a little over one year after the first stable release of Windows 10. It was codenamed " Redstone 1" ( RS1) during development. The third stable build of Windows 10 is called version 1607, known as the Anniversary Update.
